Life really is funny that way.

I’ve changed a lot since I’ve been here. Being amongst this “Hollywood” bubble does that to you. It’s definitely not something everyone can handle & even I’ve had my moments. I honestly have no words for the types of people here. I’ll leave it at that.

Looking back at my 1st Video Blog, I definitely had NO idea what I was getting myself into. Year 1 was about getting settled. Finding a place, trying to plant my own seeds. Now, I’d say that I’m ok, let year 2 begin. How about it, LA?

…it feels like an alternate reality…

So familiar but so vastly different. Instead of saying I’m going to brush my teeth, they say I’m going to wash my teeth. Too cute.

I’ve only been here 11 days so far and the experiences and new relationships I’ve made, will have a lasting impression on the life that I will eventually lead, and a life that I may eventually give.

And it’s only the beginning. To quote the man himself….

There I was at a long-awaited dinner with friends Saturday night, when in the midst of our chatting, I watched my right hand sneaking away from my side to grab my phone sitting on the table to check my e-mail.

“What am I doing?” I thought to myself. “I’m here with my friends, and I don’t need to be checking e-mail on a Saturday night.”

Last year, I wrote a post called Disconnect for a Day and it’s interesting to see this issue still at the forefront of modern society. Since I’m Backpacking Overseas later this year, it will be very interesting to see how much I’ll be able to disconnect. Gotta put my money where my mouth is ehh!

Her travel adventures made me realize that I should stay a bit longer than two weeks, so as of right now, I don’t have a specific return date, but I’m definitely going to stay longer than two weeks!

I’ll begin in Switzerland, then from there, everything is pretty much up in the air. These are the countries that’s on my travel menu. Subject to change.

Switzerland, Germany, Budapest, Paris & India.

Work on TWIST OF FATE & my other projects are full steam ahead as always, even while I’m overseas. Looking forward to keeping you posted! I can’t wait!

Since I’ll probably be too tired to notify friends & family that I’ve safely arrived in LA, I use the TripCase app to add their contact information in the “Arrival Updates” section and as soon as my flight lands, they will receive an email.

I check the temperature in LA using the weather app, it’s 70 degrees, maybe I’ll wear my flip flops to the airport.

Unanswered texts, emails, phone calls, Facebook & Twitter notifications plague my phone. I should probably get ready for the days adventure, but I check and respond to all my missed messages.

I arrive at JFK airport. Right on time. As I walk through the doors with my luggage, I use Facebook Places to check in. I’m not sure why I feel the need to let my friends know where I am. I guess it’s fun to me. They can travel along virtually. Minutes later, I check in again, but it’s my luggage.

I get a call. But it’s not a regular phone call. It’s Skype. I answer the call and seconds later, I’m video chatting. I can see my friend as if she’s right in front of me. She can see me clear as day on her computer. Video Chatting on the iPhone has become so “normal”. But every now and then, the wow factor comes back and you realize you’re doing this on a phone. In the airport.

I’m recording video of my activities while in the airport. I use the front facing and back camera. I’m a director, options are important. The back camera shoots 720p HD, which is a definite plus. I pull out my headphones and open up the iPod app and listen to some podcasts. My mood changes a few minutes later, I feel like watching some TV.

The iPad makes its 1st appearance.

To prepare for my 6 hour flight, I rented some films, and bought episodes of my favorite TV shows and downloaded them to the iPad via iTunes. I lean back, prop my leg up and begin to watch MAD MEN. The quality is perfect, the sound is clear, what better way to kill time in an airport?

It’s time to board the plane. I put my iPad back in my book bag and iPhone in my pocket. As I board the plane, the iPhone makes another appearance and I begin to record even more video.

I get a phone call, luckily my headphones are in my ear. I’m on the phone talking and taking pictures. During my phone conversation I’m posting the pics to twitter and responding to a text message. I post a final status to Facebook & Twitter. I make another Skype call. Video Chatting while sitting in my seat. I press a button that activates the back camera so my friend can see what’s in front of me.

It’s time to turn our phones off. Airplane mode works better for me. I begin to play Angry Birds. It’s addicting. The perfect game for a flight.

We’re lifting in the air, I’m taking photos and video of this moment. The question “How are we staying in the air?” always cross my mind. Not the biggest fan of the takeoff, but I must admit, it’s exciting.

The iPad makes its 2nd appearance.

I stick my headphones & open up the VIDEOS app, it’s time to watch some TV. I’m done watching ***** and I’m in the mood for a book. I should probably say AudioBook. I have THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO on both my iPhone & iPad. Thanks Audible. For the remainder of the plane ride, I close my eyes and enter the world of Lisbeth Sanders.

I have arrived at Burbank Airport. I take my phone off airplane mode and watch as unanswered texts, emails, Facebook & Twitter notifications plague my phone. It’s been a long, uncomfortable day sitting in this seat. I’ll respond in a few. The TripCase app is now alerting everyone via email that my plane has safely landed. I open up the Facebook app and check in to Burbank Airport. As I get off the plane, I take photos & videos of my 1st time in LA. All videos will be edited on my iPhone using the iMovie app.

I call my buddy up to let him know I’m in the airport. I’ve got my luggage.
