NEWS PAPER ARTICLE on KaMeek Lucas Taitt!

KaMeek Lucas Taitt, a filmmaker and student at Borough of Manhattan Community College recently completed his motion picture “Twist of Fate” after a lengthy production.  “It was the toughest nineteen months of my life,” he said.  “But it made it all the more worth it”.

KaMeek, originally born in New York but transplanted to Atlanta at an early age, returned to Manhattan to pursue his education and career in pictures.  “It was five long years, but (it was) an interesting transition and introduced me to different types of people.  I had to move back to New York though; it’s one of the best places if you are interested in making it in the business.”

After immersing himself in all the information on the film industry, KaMeek found himself admiring the work of Steven Spielberg and Robert Rodriguez.  “Listening to what Robert Rodriguez and Steven Spielberg accomplished from such modest means, helped me to relate to them on a personal level and inspired me to get the ball rolling with my work.”

A writer, director, producer, and student, KaMeek balances the responsibilities of studying for his degree with the grueling schedule required in being responsible for all aspects of the film making process.  He spoke modestly on what a typical day was like for him.  “Waking up at 8am sometimes, and touching base with everyone to make sure they are ready for the day’s shoot.  Filming for hours, and getting home completely exhausted, but still having to upload footage and make sure the shots were on point.  If I’m lucky I’ll be finished by 11:30, and then I have to be sure to prepare for my Journalism and Health tests until two or three in the morning.  Finally, I get to sleep a few hours and wake up the next day for classes.”

When asked about the creative process, KaMeek commented that it’s a huge challenge to wear all three hats, but it has a huge payoff in the end.  His favorite part of the process is directing because “as a director you see the story come to life, being there with the actors on set- it’s the best experience”.

TWIST OF FATE, starring David Holt and Stephanie Lynn tells a love story between Max Taylor and the mysterious Talaya. Max, a broken man who suffers from repressed memories of his deceased parents. Talaya, the alluring beauty, who’s much more than meets the eye. When Max & Talaya finally meet, a sweeping romance begins, leading to a climatic Twist of Fate.

The film will be presented in either April or early May.  KaMeek Lucas Taitt has expressed that after receiving his degree in Liberal Arts from Borough of Manhattan Community College, he would like to transfer to Brooklyn College for their nationally recognized film program.
